What is a drying system?

For production processes that require moisture removal, a drying system could be your solution for high-quality final products. As the name suggests, drying systems are used to dry powder and bulk solid materials. Dryers can be used to remove moisture from granular materials such as powders, flakes, and fibers. When building a drying system, two fo the most important factors to consider will be the type of dryer and type of heating needed for your product. What is a spray dryer? Spray dryers are one of the most common dryer types found in this industry. Spray drying is characterized by its ability to create powdered products from fluid feed streams, primarily with rotary, motor-driven machines or static spray nozzles used to generate the fine mists necessary for efficient liquid evaporation.

What is a flash dryer? Flash dryers are pneumatic systems combining simultaneous air conveying and drying, where solids are introduced at the feed point and dry in a 1-pass arrangement before full discharge to the product collection system. With a short residence time of only a few seconds, the solids are in contact with a relatively low heat environment for a short period. As a result of its simplicity, versatility, and short drying time, flash dryers produce high-quality final products with uniform moisture content throughout and consistent particle size distribution. 

What is a ring dryer? Ring drying is an extension to flash drying with the addition of a manifold classifier to allow semi-dry solids to internally circulate until fully dry, which allows the ring dryer to be more energy-efficient. 

What is an evaporator? Evaporators use a vortex to force liquid samples outward against the tube walls. This increases surface area for faster evaporation and maximum sample recovery. Liquid can also be removed by gentle heating at atmospheric pressure with flowing air, an inert gas, or under vacuum conditions.

What is a fluidized bed dryer? Fluidized bed dryers are used to fluidize beds of solid material through vibration or air flow. The solids are then dried by direct heating from direct or indirect heat.
